TRENDS OF THE SUN CITY

Recently consumers like myself have been exposed to several styles of furniture and home design like eclectic, industrial, mid-century, transitional, Tuscan, etc. Nonetheless, furniture/design trends that are easily recognized and mainly used by El Pasoans are traditional and contemporary. These trends can easily be distinguished from one another.

Dating all the way from the 16th century, traditional furniture has demonstrated its prestigious style that is heavily marked by elegant, curvaceous woodwork. This style of furniture gravitates towards ornate designs and is generally endorsed in homes where neo-classic attributes predominate. One indisputable characteristic of traditional furniture is that its façade is always structured of stained/finished wood grain. So in other words, if you like to feel like Roman or French royalty, this is definitely the type of furniture you should be in the look for.

This type of furniture eliminates a lot of the brown wood finishes that traditional furniture offers, instead, it offers neutral colors and lots of vibrant colors like red, lime green and oranges in shiny/opaque finishes. Another addition to contemporary furniture is the implementation of chrome or brushed metal which creates a contrast with the solid color.  If you’re the kind of person who likes to be clutter free, likes to have space and is into simplistic forms then this is the route you want to take.

Just so you know, all of these characteristic will also apply to their accessories and the way you decorate your house. Remember these are just the popular styles in the border city, If you have any questions or concerns regarding these trends or others please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
